a complicated man.  Easy to paint as the &#8220;bad guy&#8221; of the early days of the Shinsengumi, but a good adaptation doesn&#8217;t make it so black and white, but as a contrast to Kondou and his goals and asperations.  I think Hakuouki did alright, but the best Serizawa remains Koichi Sato in NHK&#8217;s 2004 tiaga drama Shinsengumi!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second best is, of course, the weird comic Kizu and I translated back in the day where he was an actual duck that the Shinsengumi dressed up, with the joke being that &#8220;Kamo&#8221; can be read as &#8220;duck&#8221;.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He&#8217;s a complicated man.
