Chief Adachi:
On one hand I’m glad those two finally left. The young kunoichi takes everything too seriously and Fujita’s man Shindou? Well he too doesn’t seem to know how to have some “fun”. But that’s not what’s important, what’s important is we eradicate the criminal activities in my city! That’s always been my goal, ever since I left the TMPD to come work in “My Yokohama”. Kawaji-san wasn’t very happy, after all he recruited all three of us and expected us to just fall in line like everyone did in the TMPD. But my town was drowning in illegal activities and I knew I had to be in “My Yokohama” and Fujita finally had enough of my droning on and on that he threw that cigarette at me (that I was sourcing for him!) and told me, “Stop -wasting- time! Nothing will be gained by just whining about it to us!”.
I grin a little remembering my “younger” days and look where I am now. I’m finally the Chief of this place and finally making headway in bettering my city! With a smile I open the drawer where I’ve been stashing cigarettes, I’ve been trying my best not to smoke these days and so I send my stash to him when I remember or he complains. Moonlights…
Oh. The letter… I guess I should read it now. I was only showing off to the juniors after all. With a grin, I start reading it but quickly I feel the grin drop from my face… This man has -never- asked me for my assistance, at least not in serious matters such as this…
Adachi,
I sent you my two best assets to bust the smuggling and trafficking activities in “Your Yokohama”. This illegal operation is related to a case that I am working on in the neighboring Prefecture of Shizuoka, specifically in the town of Ito. And since I’m sending you my best assets, I ask that you return the favor and send -any- sea support you may have at your disposal to surround the inlets and straits at Teishi Island, off the coast of Ito Shizuoka. My informant, Miyake has led me to believe that there are -large- vessels here masquerading as fishing vessels but they are in fact vessels used to store illegal commodities coming from Osaka until they are ready to be delivered to your town of Yokohama to be transported likely via train into Tokyo.
Shindou who I’ve sent to assist you in Yokohama knows that I am working the case here in Ito and that it is essential that all perpetrators there in Yokohama are captured as there is a risk of tipping off the mastermind, Yasutake and her allies if word from Yokohama gets to Ito before I’ve dealt with the criminals. There is also a problem with the corruption of the prefectural police here in Ito that I am dealing with, currently headed by Yamato and his right hand Amari who has provided protection to these illegal operations. These men are all from Tokyo and has ties to the Department of the Interior. Thus I’ve disallowed Shindou from discussing my operations in Ito as secrecy is most important. So if he refuses to give more information to you (and I expect him not to say much to the weasel, I mean the girl Makimachi), know that it is an order of mine. The young woman with him is a very capable and dependable kunoichi, as you’ll find out. But she is overzealous and may have other objectives related to the Oniwabanshu or to a previous “roommate”. This may or may not present a problem but I leave it up to your discretion.
I’ve asked for reinforcements from the TMPD before I left Tokyo unfortunately Kawaji has not returned by the time I left. I believe TMPD reinforcements will come but it maybe too late if I were to wait. I’ve also enlisted the help of the local fishermen here but they are civilians so I’ve asked them to serve only as lookouts, a fisherman named Miyake has been helping us. And as for inside the town itself, Ito’s former Police Chief Muriyama and his men can be trusted.
Everything you need to know is in this letter or at least all the intelligence I can share. I’m counting on you, old friend.
Fujita Gorou
I fold the letter. It was a good thing I decided to read it. It would’ve been bad had I really gone along, all out with the show I tried to pull off earlier. But why is the TMPD not sending reinforcements right away? They either don’t believe Fujita or perhaps Kawaji-san is spread too thin. Either way the TMPD is choosing not to act and Fujita is not getting the support he needs.
“Kawano!” I shout to the man who guards my door outside and is my personal gopher… I mean “assistant”.
“Yes sir!”
“I need you to take my dictation and send it to Tokyo immediately.”
“Yes sir!”
