Kai got really mad at me. He said he’ll be in trouble all week and it’s vacation no less. He’ll have no fun at all. I sigh and put away the things in my bag. He’s right.
I make my way down to the school grounds. Everyone is shouting and making afternoon plans, mostly to get some afternoon snack at some stall or play together. Sitting down, I look across the field where some younger kids are playing this new game where you wave around a stick as someone tries to hit you with a ball. But the foolish kids tries to do it with a bokken and it splintered it in half. Such a waste.
(OOC: Anyone can drop by otherwise a little later I’ll have him go home).
(Makoto)
“Here he is,” she says, walking with me over to the field and I see my brother! I looked all over for him and Kai-san said that he “had no idea” and muttered something about a book? But then I saw Midori-san.
“Thank you, Midori-san!” I say. “Hey, don’t you live here? Are you going home next week?”
She shakes her head. “It’s too far to go, the train lines are still being built so it’s just not easy so I’d have to take a boat, too.” Oooh, a boat! “But it’s not so bad here, although the company…” she shrugs.
“Have a good week off, Makoto-chan.” She turns and leave. She’s very helpful, and being tall she can see everything really well!
“Hi Tsutomi-niisan!” I sit down next to him. He’s watching the boys who play a very silly stick game. “The upper school let out early too!” I’m excited for our week off. I’m going to meet Tsuyoshi-niisan!!!!
“It’s too far to go, the train lines are still being built so it’s just not easy so I’d have to take a boat, too.”
“Your parents dumped you at the school too?” I look as she deposits Makoto to me.
Hi Tsutomu-nii-san. “The upper school let out early too!”
I look at Makoto. I’m not really in the mood to babysit today. “So now you dump her on me.” I sigh.
I look at the tall girl, I guess her name is Midori. “If you don’t like the company there, maybe keep Makoto company until her -chaperone- comes and gets her.” I didn’t want to walk home with her and Yukiko-neesan. I planned to walk alone and go home a little later. Maybe.
Your parents dumped you at the school too?
Midori shrugs. “I guess? The schools back home aren’t great; and my mother knew someone who knew someone who said this was a good school.” She’s quiet. “I miss the ocean.”
So now you dump her on me
Oh! “I’m not dumped!” I say!
If you don’t like the company there, maybe keep Makoto company until her -chaperone- comes and gets her.
“While Makoto-chan is better company that my roommates, I’m not a baby-sitter,” she says. I’m not a baby! She turns and starts to walk away, her long hair flying in the wind.
“Fine, I’ll go wait by the gates for Yukiko-san -by myself-.” I frown at Tsutomu-niisan. Why has he been so grumpy? Ever since he was sick… oh no what if he’s still sick and that’s why he’s grumpy?
I get my bag and get up. “Hahaue gave Yukiko-san money and said we could stop and buy sweets to welcome Tsuyoshi-niisan with.” I’m not going to miss that! “You have to come so we know what he likes!” Sweets will make him feel better. They always do for me.
(Midori has exited, Makoto will head to the gates unless stopped)
“I guess? The schools back home aren’t great; and my mother knew someone who knew someone who said this was a good school.” She’s quiet. “I miss the ocean.”
I look back. “What’s the point of staying in a good school if you’d rather be elsewhere?” I say as she walks away. At least she has somewhere to go back to.
“While Makoto-chan is better company that my roommates, I’m not a baby-sitter,”
I don’t say anything to that. I guess I was wrong, she wasn’t a very nice girl after all. She was just looking to take leave of her temporary ward quickly. All upper classmen are taught to help younger students whenever they ask for help.
“Fine, I’ll go wait by the gates for Yukiko-san -by myself-.”
Makoto-chan pouts. “No. Yukiko-neesan will get in trouble.”
I follow her out the gates and just say yes to all of the sweets she pointed to. The store clerk kept giving out samples so I ate those.
(OOC: Close. Yukiko eventually finds them at one of the store.)
