The “lively” Machiya room

Ever since Otou-san and Yagi-san stopped by which was only 2 days ago, I’ve been getting an odd feeling in the machiya. Nothing creepy like a ghost, or a bake-mono or some old japanese spirit, but the room feels more “alive” with a certain energy.

I’m not sure why I’ve never noticed it before… But then again I’ve kept the place spartan since no one ever visits. Odd that they’d decide to stop by here of all places, especially Yagi-san, who’s never been here before. And besides, if they wanted to see me, Otou-san knows I don’t get back until well into the evening on the weekdays…

I wonder… He couldn’t have brought her here so they could be alone would he? Why would they need to be alone? They really had no business in stopping by.

My eyes go wide suddenly, perhaps he… or they… I stand up from the small table. Could they have done it on the futon? But my futon wasn’t disturbed. On the table? But that would break the table? It’s wobbly enough as it is. On the kitchen counter? No… Too small. or perhaps the genkan?! They’d get caught there and I doubt he’d be that stupid… Which leaves either the floor or the wall…

NO WAY! She’s huge! And I heard from Yahiko that when women get that huge men are not allowed to even go near them otherwise they’d get eaten. Women can be monsters when expecting. Everyone knows that! Apparently Kaoru-san was like that to Himura-san!

I sigh. I’ve been hanging around Yahiko too much it seems. My mind is turning as derelict as he is.

Well at least the umeboshi was good… My eyes wander between the floor and the wall again.

If they did do it… No way Otou-san would do it on the floor with Yagi-san being in that state, so it must’ve been a wall… But which wall?

Stop it Eiji! I hit my head a few times to get it back into place.

Well at least, he made it a point to let me know Kinosuke-san is gone.

I’m sure he knows the girl I spoke of was Yukiko. If he’s letting me know about Kinosuke then that means he approves of my intentions for Yukiko? He’s encouraging it…

In that case, maybe I’ll start visiting more and spending time with Yukiko in the mornings. The Akabeko doesn’t open until lunch and I can help her bring the children to school, which means we can have most of the mid-morning to ourselves…

(OOC: Assume that most mornings Eiji is now accompanying Yukiko and the children to school.)
