Monday Morning

saitou-thinksIt’ll be a busy day with Makoto and then guests later. I straighten out my uniform one last time in front of the mirror and put on my gloves. I have work to do today, mostly buereaucratic but after that the real work begins. I grin slightly at the thought of re-acquainting myself with old connections, allies and what not. While I am still recovering just as that doctor had wanted, it doesn’t mean I can’t go out and gather information and Kawaji doesn’t have to know everything I do. That man should’ve learned a few things from Okubo, like staying out of my business for one. It’s unfortunate for him.
I go downstairs and take the cap that is on the coffee table placing it under my arm. I can hear her preparing already but I see no signs of Makoto, she must still be asleep. Quietly I enter the kitchen, not really to have breakfast but to bid her goodbye for the day.

  1. I’m making a good breakfast – for our little girl’s big day, and to sustain my husband-to-be until lunchtime, while making a bento for him.
Hajime enters and I smile, turning to face him, going closer so I can put my arms around him. “Mmmm… good morning.” I kiss his cheek. I like seeing him in the morning, having a sort of routine…
I take his cap from him, and take it to the sink, where I keep a soft brush. I brush it, cleaning it, and then take a soft cloth to polish the trimmings. I hand it back to him with a grin, “there… all ready for the day.”
“I was planning to put Yukiko-san in Makoto’s room, and Kinosuke-san in the study.” I smile… perhaps we can turn that into nursery… but for now I’ll need to get it ready in case the boys return with us.
I think ahead to our busy day, glad I have this moment with him now, and I go back to hold him, nuzzling my cheek against his chest, savoring his warmth, and the smell of what he uses for shaving. “Do you have time for breakfast? I do have a lunch ready for you take with you as well…” I look up at him. “And I’m really looking forward to going out tonight.”
Makoto comes down the stairs and into the kitchen, yawning, and smiles at both of us, coming over to give us each a hug. “Chichi I’m going to do my best today!” I think she’s a little nervous, but she shouldn’t worry. She’s a bright girl.

  2. She’s up early, one of the more welcome changes since I’ve known her. I can’t tease her anymore of sleeping like a log in the mornings. Well that’s not completely true… I kiss her back on the lips and grin slightly “Good morning.”
?EURoethere?EUR? all ready for the day.?EUR?
“You think so?” I don my cap and look expectantly at the bento that she’s yet to give me.
?EURoeI was planning to put Yukiko-san in Makoto?EUR(TM)s room, and Kinosuke-san in the study
“That’s a good plan.” I say, “Will Makoto be alright with Yukiko in the same room? Perhaps she should sleep in our room for now.”
Suddenly she’s holding me again and I look down at the woman who is crumpling my uniform. I would move away but when she’s like this… It’s better to let her be and just hold her back.
?EURoeDo you have time for breakfast? I do have a lunch ready for you take with you as well?EUR??EUR? I look up at him. ?EURoeAnd I?EUR(TM)m really looking forward to going out tonight.?EUR?
“I dont’ really tend to have breakfast.” I look at her, “But that’s just a bad habit, -you- however… should have a full breakfast once I’m gone.” She talks about going out and I only nod. I haven’t really made reservations anywhere and it seems there’s going to be a lot more than expected. I’ll have to ask one of my subordinates to suggest a place.
From the corner of my eye, I see Makoto wobble over to us, still half asleep and yawning. She gives her mother a hug and then myself and I shake my head as another crease appeared. I’ve not even gotten to work yet.
?EURoeChichi I?EUR(TM)m going to do my best today!?EUR?
Deciding that my uniform is a lost cause, I pull Makoto up and settle her against my arm. “Do your best everyday.” I say and ruffle her hair, “but especially today since your mother and I are not watching. That’s when it really counts.”

  3. I get a kiss and I smile, one that lights up my entire face. It’s a wonderful way to start my day… and makes me glad that I’m an earlier riser these days.
He asks about Makoto, and I nod. “I think so. But we can always re-arrange things.” I think about perhaps looking for a new house, something with more room… but how can we leave this one? “I just hope Makoto doesn’t disturb Yukiko-san, she tends to move around and kick in her sleep.”
As I hold him, a look crosses his face, and I’m confused, even as he does hold me back, and I snuggle close.
“Mmmm… I think you need to get into the good habit of a breakfast.” I let him go and go back over to the stove, and roll up a pair of onigiri, one with pickles, the other with fish. “For your breakfast.” I smile over at him as I wrap them up and add then to the bundle the bento is in. “And yes, I will eat.” My hand drifts down to my stomach. When the morning sickness starts, that will be a challenge… but I know I must eat then.
Glancing back at him, I -think- I realize… I grin to myself and step over to the little alcove that serves as a laundry area, and flip a switch. Another one of my little “helps” around here… otherwise the pleats in Makoto’s school uniform would require hours of laundering to get -right-.
Makoto is adorable, in a bleary-eyed way in the morning, but she becomes more alert as she shares a moment with her father. “Oh,” she nods, her eyes suddenly wide. “I’ll remember that, Chichi.” She then kisses his cheek and scrambles down. “Wash up before breakfast,” I tell her. Once school starts she’ll need to come down dressed…
She goes off, this time more alert, and I go to Hajime. “Seems like I got the hat right, but that jacket… ” I shake my head, and with a practiced hand, make quick work of his jacket. “I can’t very well steam it with you in it.” Taking the jacket, I take it over to the corner, waving the steaming wand over it, which has a wonderful effect of loosing the wrinkles and restoring it to crisp freshness.
Handing it back over, I grin. “Sorry about that. But it is hard not to want to touch you… my ookami-sama is very hard to resist. I at least make it up to you, ne?” Standing on tip-toes and being careful not to -touch- I steal another kiss as Makoto returns to the kitchen.

  4. ?EURoeI just hope Makoto doesn?EUR(TM)t disturb Yukiko-san, she tends to move around and kick in her sleep.?EUR?
“Ah is that so?” I think for a moment and I’m glad Makoto isn’t sleeping with us. I wouldn’t want her kicking unknowingly if she sleeps besides her mother.
She hands me my bento and indicates the onigiri is for breakfast, I take it but I shall see if I am hungry. I’d rather have coffee only. I find breakfast slows me down in the mornings and heavy ones makes me sleepy by mid-day. -Not- a good feeling. “Fine.” I say and before I can even finish my jacket is off, whisked to her side. So she has noticed. I watch as she takes the “wand” that we both know does not belong -here- and just smirk to myself. She needs help of course and since we’ll never have a maid in this house, why not steal the conveniences of another place and time?
I’m still carrying Makoto as Hide finishes. I get my kiss and my daughter scrambles off to the washroom.
?EURoeSorry about that. But it is hard not to want to touch you?EUR? my ookami-sama is very hard to resist. I at least make it up to you, ne??EUR?
As I put on my jacket, I can’t help but think what a -busy- morning this is turning out to be. I’ve not had such busy ones since… I can’t remember. We kiss and I turn to leave to start my day.
“Be there at 2PM -promptly-. I’ll try to get back here early.” Sure I will try but I do have plans today. They’ll probably be at Futaba for at least an hour and get back here closer to 4PM, hopefully Yukiko and Kinosuke take their time. “If you think you’ll be late, Eiji should be able to help you.” She knows where to find him.
(OOC: Saitou is about to leave unless something happens.)

  5. He smirks as I fix his jacket. Laundry is probably the only household task that I don’t enjoy, and having this little sneak… rather helps things. And I can restore Hajime’s uniform to perfection. I walk around him after he puts on the jacket, straightening the back and shoulders.
I nod at the instructions for the rest of the day. “We’ll spend the morning here picking up and airing out the extra futons. And we won’t be late for the school.” I touch his hand, not wanting to wrinkle him my touch is light. “And I’m glad to be going with you. As long as Makoto is safe with family, I want to stand with you.”
I walk with him to the gate. “When Makoto is in school I’ll start bringing you lunch again.” Makoto runs out just in time to stand on the porch and wave at her father. “Have a good day, we’ll see you soon.”
I smile down at Makoto. “We have a big day today, are you ready?”

  6. ?EURoeAnd I?EUR(TM)m glad to be going with you. As long as Makoto is safe with family, I want to stand with you.?EUR?
I look at her for a moment, then tilt my head. The only reason I’m taking her is because she seemed upset that I wouldn’t and it would be like that time we fought all over again. “It was opportune. Had it not been necessary to drag Yukiko back here…” I would’ve left her to be with Makoto.
We walk to the gate and she talks about bringing me lunch soon. “You’ll have to tell me when since I might not be in the precinct. I’ll be busy once we get back.” Of course I haven’t forgotten I have unfinished business to take care of. I kiss her cheek one last time and raise my hand for Makoto.
(OOC: Saitou has left. Starting a new thread for Futaba.)

  7. “Breakfast first, then housework and then we’ll have a quick lunch before we get ready to go to the school.” I smile down at her, taking her hand as we walk back inside after seeing Hajime off and locking the gate. We do have a lot to do but it’s very important to getting our lives set up here in Tokyo.
