Midori’s Secret

(Sakaya Tsurumi)
Rumor has it… my -dear- friend Midori-san has been out! When I asked her she was evasive, saying something about the French bakery but they deliver to her… so what is she hiding?

Today is the day she helps out with the sewing club (no doubt spreading her horrid habit of -Western- embroidery!) and she never locks her door… I -should- look into this! As a senior I have a responsibility – what if she’s up to no good? Seeing a man? Doing something to tarnish the reputation of our school?

On her desk I find a letter. Should I… yes! It’s for her own good…

Dear Nishino-san,

Thank you for visiting the other day – I’m sorry that the baby’s upset stomach and corresponding mess left me unable to properly host you, but Makoto-chan and Tsutomu-kun had a wonderful time. Also, thank you for the gift for the baby – you have a real skill for embroidery. You are welcome to return anytime your school schedule allows – we would all be delighted to see you again.

-Yagi Hide

That’s… -her-……

Midori-san has been to THAT house?

And that woman not only stole the captain away from Fujita-sensei, but now she’s going to steal my Tsutomu-kun and give him to Midori-chan? Just a -common- fisherman’s daughter? When he should be with a flower of Aizu, like ME?

Stupid Midori taking from me the one thing I want! Did she toss her perfect hair at him? Say that she was his mother’s favorite student?

It takes all that I -am- not to rip the letter in pieces. Instead, I look for the envelope… no address!

How am I going to stop this? I -have- to find out where they live – and stop this rotten woman once and for all!

(Midori)

My room feels weird… no, that’s stupid.

I look out the window. It’s raining today. And I never got the cake I was promised.

Oh well.

I pick up the letter on my desk. I should go back soon. Maybe on a day when there’s kendo practice…

Instead, with the light too poor for stitching, I pick up my English homework. Why is it so hard? After all, it’s going to be important to me… -maybe-.
