It’s been a couple of days and Kano has been more than willing to update me on the Goryo Eiji. Apparently Arai Tadao and Suzuki Mikisaburo are bound to arrive in a week’s time. That’s -not- good news. Suzuki in particular was Ito’s younger brother and would hold the deepest of grudges. I’ve been joining Kano in his morning walks and somehow he’s come to expect it but I don’t mind. This distracts him from venturing too far and going back to that hospital. Abe and Shinohara typically avoid us, but they can’t seem to go against Kano which is unusual. Shinohara in particular I’ve caught following Kano and I on occasion.
“So Saitou-san what really did happen to you and Okita-san?” Kano asks, leaning forward on the table. “You two were very close right?”
I shrug, “I liked to spar with him. Keeps me on my toes.”
He nods, “Of course. Of course. But you two went out by yourselves at night and…”
