A Saitou cel came home!

Category: Uncategorized

Now this is old news, but can’t I still enjoy it?  *grin*

So last week, this cel came home to me.

It all began not that long ago, when Kizu called me early one morning.  “Saitou cel!  Saitou cel!”  I had fallen back asleep.  :D  So when I came downstairs, I pulled up Yahoo! Japan, and OMG… there he was.

Now let me first tell you, that I have long admired this cel of Kizu’s.  Not only was he very good looking here, but it was one of many great moments in Episode 30.  It’s after Kenshin and Saitou had to stop fighting.  Saitou reports on what he was sent to investigate: how Kenshin’s skills were.  But the resolution of their fight will come another day - Saitou spotted an eavesdropper and taking care of that becomes important.  His eyes are closed, which means some would deem it a “lesser” cel, but it’s a moment that a Saitou fan understands as a very important one.

And… on a fangirl level, that one shot is about as much satisfaction as we get.  LOL!  Unlike the other guys who keep “accidentally” getting their shirts “ripped” off in battle, this man stays clothed… so seeing his bare arms here is one of the better moments we get.  But hey… we can all imagine.  Or go to doujinshi.  :D  Or just go stare at the part in the OP where he’s biting his gloves…

But back to the story!  So I put in a bid.  And I wait… a week… what a long week.  It ended on a Monday morning, never before had I wished for a weekend to be over!  Monday morning, and the real fun begins… and I watch rivals enter, and the price rise… and it goes up… and….

I won!  SMJ is moving fast these days, and before I knew it , it was in the US, all ready for me… and then I requested it to come home.   Kizu and I counted down the days, and bemoaned the frustrations of waiting for the package.

And while they look amazing online, there’s nothing like seeing it in person for the first time.  But since I was at work I couldn’t dissolve into the fit of giggle that I wanted to go into.  XD  But oh well… a few hours ahead was home, and then…  then I could enjoy it.   Now to frame it…

Cels cels cels!

Category: Uncategorized

Yay!  Now I have a journal for my cel activities.  :D

 *end entry*

Haha… just kidding.  ^_^

But anyway, this is my first entry on my new cel journal on the webspace that Kizu kindly allows me to use.  Like the gallery that this is linked from, I’m glad to have the space that is -mine-.  Well, borrowed…  but still mine.   :D  There’s a wonderful freedom to it, not just in setting the layout or whatever, but to collect in peace.

There is a very adequate website for cel collectors.  But I’ve been there, and I don’t like that scene.  I expect some level of drama in internet communities, it’s what happens when you don’t have to look someone else in the eye while you’re an ass to them.  But it was -crazy-… and it infringed upon one’s enthusiasm for the hobby… bitching over such silly things… like being on the frontpage, of people that update “too much”.  That one shouldn’t use one’s gallery as they see fit, including if they want to hide certain cels.  It dissolves into a lot of childish huffing and puffing.

And I just want to have *fun*.  I want to fangirl over my cels, not worry if someone is sulking because I have it.  I don’t want my auctions interferred with.   So I’m here.  I can also blog in peace - I have an lj, but I’ve never been motivated to post in it too much, besides stuff I’ve baked.  LOL!  As you might be able to tell from the paragraph above, I have very little patience for the traditional cel community that hangs around rubberslug and beta.  I used to maintain a “peek in” schedule to watch for sales, but there’s so much drama over that - which I’ve been spared but that I’ve seen my friend go through - that I’ll keep my eyes out for other sources.   Why should something so simple as exchanging money for goods be so complicated?  Why must a $50 piece of artwork involve negotiations on the level of international diplomacy?

On another note, I hate the idea of “offers”.   Say what you want for the cel.  If you want people to “fight” for your cel, that’s what eBay is for.

In upcoming galleries, not only will I talk about some of the stuff I’m adding, but some of the lessons I’ve learned while collecting, and share some more information on my collection on a very practical level, such as storage, etc.
