Okita and Sei

About the Manga - Kaze Hikaru

Winner of the Shogakukan Manga Award in the Girls' Category, 2003. This manga has been running in Flowers magazine in Japan since 1997 and as of April 2006, has passed its 100th chapter and is on it's 19th volume. The series has recently come to the United States via Viz, where it runs in its Shojo Beat manga anthology magazine. The first collected volume came out in January, 2006 with new releases every 5 months or so.

The series starts with a young girl in disguise joining a group of ronin that have gathered in Mibu, a village of Kyoto, and follows the Shinsengumi through history, always seen through the eyes of Sei. Will she be able to remain in the Shinsengumi? Will she have to become a "demon" in order to wield a sword? Almost ten years into the series, her full story has yet to be told.

Kaze Hikaru fan  - Kaze Hikaru - a MASTERPIECE from Taeko Watanabe   |165.196.0.xxx |2010-02-02 16:51:48
Kaze Hikaru is truly a masterpiece manga. I admire Taeko Watanabe for her mind
in creating such a fantastic story and wonderful characters. Truly awesome! Kaze
Hikaru is definitely a one-of-a-kind shojo manga. I wish more people would read
this (shojo)manga because there is no other like it! Seriously! If you live in
the U.S. (like I do), I recommend buying every volume because it is worth every
penny! There are currently 15 volumes out in the U.S. and I hope that Shojo Beat
will not stop serializing Kaze Hikaru because it is one of the best out of ALL
the shojo mangas I've read.
